fuck spiders

in a letter to mike:

i just saw a massive spider outside and now im all on edge. fuck spiders.

i miss you. i'm tired of not being able to talk to you. i'm so tired of it. i can think of it two ways, it's five more years or it's ONLY five more years. most of the time i take the optimist's approach, but some days it just feels like an eternity... i wish i could just be there with you at least, so you had someone there. i wish i could bring you a guitar or a stack of books or cds or just anything. i dunno.

i gotta stop listening to dredg. fuuuuck.

FUCK SPIDERS.

and you know what else? fuck evanescence. i tried mike, i really did, but it didn't stick. i can't do it. the music and her voice oh my it's like hell being ground in a blender.

and why do girls whine everything they say to other girls? "awww, thaaaa-aaaanks". shut up you twats.

ohhh, don't touch the suck knob, there's maybe two people i can chat with who get my jokes, is it me? don't laugh if you don't think it's funny, i don't care, but at least GET IT. they get my jokes in real life, for shit's sake.

and janelle from big brother is barbie. seriously.

there are no bagels for breakfast, i have to wear off! to bed and the stupid damned database i'm designing won't let me add a pop-up calendar function to it and i'm gonna trash the whole damned thing soon.

shit. i think you're watching (uhh reading) me type out some kind of mental breakdown. fuck spiders, fuck them so bad. fuck.

none of that matters. it just felt good. none of that matters except that i miss you and i'm so tired of not being able to talk to you. so tired... i would listen to evanescence for the rest of my life to listen to you just say "yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah" once more.

Israel Moves to Suspend Air Attacks for 2 Days After Strike in Lebanese Village Kills 57 Civilians

BEIRUT, July 31 -- Israeli warplanes hunting Hezbollah rocket launchers in southern Lebanon on Sunday killed at least 57 civilians, most of them children, huddled inside a three-story building in a small village. In response, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice appeared to abandon diplomacy in...

wow, israel, i guess we're supposed to praise you now? i guess we should look over the fact that hezbollah finally agreed to what you wanted in the first place, your soldiers back (in exchange for theirs, i realize) and you turned it down for no fucking good reason and just kept shelling the living shit out of KIDS? what a mighty big heart it takes... fuck off.

i propose we pause all wars for a few months while we move all civilians who don't want anything to do with any conflict anywhere in the world, to peaceful places like australia and tahiti, and we take all willing military personnel from all countries, all civilians who think any of the current conflicts are a good idea, the american government, the iraqi insurgents, the israeli gov't and all the terrorist organizations, fascist, violent governments in the world and toss 'em on antarctica with all the guns and ammo in the world, maybe some swords and a couple wood chippers for you fargo fans out there, and let them fucking blow themselves up while we disarm all the nuclear weapons in the world and live happily fucking after...

insomniac-al raving and a prison gang

ok, so i'm getting a little dizzy from lack of sleep. for the past week i've done nothing but stare at lines of code, and figure out intricate calculations and relationships in databases. from 9 am until some days, 9pm. not to mention the fact that tuesday was my birthday and i went out with some friends who bought me round after round of shots regardless of the fact that i had to get up and work the next morning (how dare they!). and every time i went to sit down and just pretty much fuck off, someone needed my help with something. emails aren't working, web sites aren't loading, etc and then the damned phone wouldn't stop ringing and my fucking chat program logged into msn, aim, yahoo!, google talk and icq, is just going ballistic whether i'm set to away or not. gotta write my daily letters to mike cause i love him and i miss him so terribly. oh, and of course, i have to set aside 3 hours a week to tune into big brother all stars because it's about all that totally blanks my mind and sometimes i need a good mind-blanking.

suffice to fucking say, i haven't had a moment to just sit the fuck down and be courtney. i haven't kept up on reading all the new posts to the RSS feeds i sub to, which is close to 100 now (i'm hooked on information and it's beautiful syndication, uh-huh), haven't had a moment to read my book, no moments to write anything except the letters, no time for play with puppy, no time for rollerblading with mom, sleepy all the time, i couldn't even fucking watch big brother live, i had to tape it.

well, ladies and gents, i finally had time time today. i slept in until 1pm after a night at karaoke with the ladies, woke up all hungover like homer simpson at church, sat down at my computer, launched my feeds and have been at it ever since. and i got through it all. there were 1400 new articles to be read. granted, some of them were videos and some pictures, like the fucking bomb shit stuff over @ bibliodyssey, but it was a lot. and i just finished. and i'm tired now. i am seeing double. double.

but anyway, the whole fucking point of this ginormous blabber, is that, well, earlier i posted: who's afraid of the big bad aryan brotherhood, about the convicted big bosses of the aryan brotherhood prison gang. but i've had another few thoughts on the topic since, so here goes.

"and another thing!" prison systems promote racism:

The effects of imprisonment are largely negative. Rape is a serious problem in prisons. Many prison policies, such as racially segregated housing, condone and actively promote racism.

GPCA Platform

On Feb. 6, 2006, Jessie Lee Williams, Jr., a 40-year-old black man in a Southern Mississippi jail, was allegedly hooded and hog-tied by police, beaten about the head and testicles and ultimately died from blunt injuries to the head.

The Raw Story | Video shows Ghraib-like torture by sheriffs lead to man's death, say groups, family

i hate hate hate how people place the sole blame on every crime, every crime on the person who committed the crime. i mean, obviously the perpetrator holds a lot of the blame, but look you stupid fucking jackasses, we've had incarceration in some form or another since the beginning of civilization. has it stopped crime? is crime not considerably worse as far as it's spread and scale than it's been in centuries past? do you suppose these facts could teach us something? that perhaps, if what you are truly concerned about is preventing crime, preventing human beings from becoming the victims of crime, if that's what you're truly worried about, maybe we should just fucking consider, for a moment, that perhaps prison isn't working?

hey, here's a goddamned thought... the aryan brotherhood is a prison gang, meaning it is almost exclusively limited to the people incarcerated in america's prison system. sorry, the white people. this gang commits crime within prison, as do all gangs like it. in fact, a lot of prisoners currently locked up commit crimes while incarcerated whether they're in gangs or not. do you suppose for a moment that it's a possibility that prison might even promote crime?

also, right wing conservative politics cause crime. i'm not just spewing this like a symptom of tourette's either, there's infallable reasoning behind it. just ask me. i dare you.

gasp. i know i'm a fucking satanic heathen and will burn in hell eternally for just thinking that. except there's no damned hell. 'cause god doesn't believe in prison either, fuckers.

hey, in lighter news, ken jennings has a blog!

blogs from the thick of it

Tonight is my engagement dinner-party, and I'm afraid some people will not be able to make it. Instead of being busy with grooming and preparing ourselves for the big night, we are all glued to TV screens, eager for a glimpse of good news.
I had a big bouquet of flowers prepared by my Beirut florist to be delivered this evening to my sweetheart. Unfortunately, a phone call this afternoon informed me that not even florists are in the mood for love tonight.

Comment is free: A view from inside Lebanon

that's is a pretty good post to the guardian unlimited's comment is free from july 13th. unfortunately, he hasn't posted since.
This blog is mostly about Iraq. It is basically an Iraqi perspective. The comments section of the previous post drifted into the question of the recent conflict in Lebanon. Some people wondered how Iraqis saw things and whether they were interested in the first place. This is how I see it from Iraq.

I was born in Baghdad in 1988, April, 23rd but I'm originally from Mosul. still a student in the magnet-school, dreaming of the university... I started to write a blog to fill my time, and it really worked.

who's afraid of the big bad aryan brotherhood

SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Federal investigators toiled for years to build a case strong enough to cut off the head of a notorious white-supremacist prison gang and end its 40-year reign over the federal and state prison systems.

On Friday, the government's efforts bore fruit: a verdict that convicted four Aryan Brotherhood leaders of murder, conspiracy and racketeering and made two of them eligible for the death penalty.

Experts Say Verdict May Not Lead to Demise of Prison Gang

of course it won't lead to the demise of the prison gang. first of all, it's nowhere near the only prison gang in the united states of america and second, it's a defense mechanism that is a direct result of the dangerous, terrifying and isolating nature of incarceration itself. until that is addressed, there will always be prison gangs, and the deadly violence that is associated with them.

although i take great exception to any kind of racial supremacy, if you actually do some investigating yourself, you'll find out that a large number of the members of the aryan brotherhood are not supremacists. racism has little to do with it, it is simply the easiest way for prisoners to differentiate themselves from one another and feel some kind of loyalty, belonging and family while incarcerated. there are african-american prison gangs, hispanic gangs, etc and a lot of their members, when out on the street, have no problem with people of other races. in fact, many members of the aryan brotherhood and other race-based prison gangs are friendly in prison with individuals of other races.

if we didn't strip these men and women of so many things that are essential to sound mental functioning, such as reasonable contact with loved ones, morale-boosting activities, and a sense of purpose, self-worth, these gangs wouldn't take shape.

as RCMP officer Thompson said in Parolees lose parachute in decision to merge parole boards says chairperson:

"Everyone wants to belong to something and a group," she said. "If they can't find a place in society to fit in in a pro-social way, the anti-social side of society will accept them with open arms, sadly."

the same principal applies while these people are still incarcerated. if they can't find a positive place to fit in, they'll get sucked into a negative place.

the only answer to the majority of problems associated with incarceration, is to finally suck it up and realize that every last inmate in the world is still a human being and should be treated as such, cause it's likely the reason they were convicted in the first place is because at some point in their lives they'd been stripped of the rights and dignity that every human being deserves no matter what.

things to do in solitary confinement

Inmate paints with M&Ms and brush made from his own hair

A Pelican Bay inmate serving life in solitary confinement for second-degree murder creates amazing images with paint brewed from M&Ms. Snip from NYT article by Adam Liptak:

[Donny Johnson] orders his supplies from the prison commissary once a month. The M&M’s are 60 cents a pack, and he gets 10 packs at a time. He puts from one to five of the candies in each of the jelly containers, drizzles a little water in and later fishes out the chocolate cores, leaving liquid of various colors, which get stronger if they sit for a couple of days.

Boing Boing: A Directory of Wonderful Things

it's no secret i have a little thing for a man who's been incarcerated for the last 3 and some odd years. no, he's not just a penpal, we've been friends for the past ten years. but whatever. he's my dude and i love him and i will support him through anything.

last year he (mike) disappeared for about 6 months. no letters, no calls, no word from him whatsoever. iit was excrutiating. the only thing that kept me from thinking he was dead, was the database of inmates. had he been dead, it would have said "deceased" instead of "incarcerated".

anyway, after 6 months, i got a letter from him finally and he told me he'd been in the hole, or solitary. he had no access to paper or envelopes, and just recently he told me that you can have paper and envelopes in the hole, but only if you bring it with you when you go. and it is under very few circumstances that an inmate is given any fair warning he's going to the hole.

in some cases, like the painting man in solitary above, or in mike's case, the man being subjected to solitary confinement is intelligent enough to make something out of nothing, to find some productive and healthy way to spend their time so that they a) don't lose their minds and b) feel they have nothing left to lose and commit even worse than they had already. but in most cases, men in solitary confinement lose it. they have nothing but cement walls to stare at, day in and day out, this is all they have. from the original NYT article:

They reflect the sensory deprivation and diminished depth perception of someone held in a windowless cell for almost two decades.

He has not touched another person in 17 years.

Behind Bars, He Turns M&M’s Into an Art Form - New York Times

what good do we honestly believe this kind of sensory deprivation is doing? aside from any form of vengeance, what good is this doing? not allowing an artist to have artists' tools? not allowing a man to touch base with a friend whom he loves more than anything in the world? what does this do?

it causes anger, which in turn causes violence and in men who have already committed violent acts, making them more violent is not a smart thing to do. the biggest reason for incarceration, or at least, the reason most of the western world's ignorant population likes to believe, is to keep these violent men off the streets so they cannot harm another person. but there are people in prison, too. kids in prison, teenagers who were caught with a gram of marijuana, kids who had a heroin problem and made one mistake, and in mike's case, a fucking mind-blowing genius who got a little fucked up for a while. these people are in prison and they live amongst each other and to make them more violent, to keep these tiny simple things from them that keep them sane, is absolutely cruel and unusual. because it leads to anger and more violence and deaths, sometimes other prisoners, sometimes guards.

there is no intelligence behind deprivation. deprivation is solely an act of vengeance and any progressive society would toss vengeance aside in the name of true rehabilitation and societal safety.

remember when we were younger, the word beirut struck the same chords in us as darfur or east timor does today?

why's it happened again? why has beirut become another sting word?

you know, both sides of the israeli/palestinian confilct have a right to be upset. both of them do and the sooner we all recognize that the sooner this conflict will end. they've both suffered. they both continue to suffer, but the bottom line is, respect for life is just that. respect for life. i don't care if you're purple, tongan or a scientologist. we must, absolutely must at this point in history, learn to respect all life. otherwise i truly believe we are staring the end times in the face.

british prisons

i read a series of books by jeffrey archer called a prison diary. i'd read these after reading similar memoirs from prisoners in canada, the united states and thailand and was absolutely floored at how much more forward the british prison system is. still barbaric and ineffective for the most part, Her Majesty's Prison Service (HMPS) if well ahead of the sorry prison systems in north america.

recently a new program in the prisons in england has been launched with the help of the BBC:

How pleasing it was, however, to hear the news last week of the launch of the Prison Radio Project, which took place in HMP Winson Green (another penal establishment with a grim reputation). The BBC was standing tall as the main sponsor of the project, ensuring its success with donations of redundant analogue radio equipment and proudly announcing that it expects to roll out the programme in conjunction with all 39 BBC local radio stations.

Prisoners are to be taught the skills necessary via CD-roms produced by the Prison Radio Project, and by master classes provided by local BBC producers. The ambition of the Project, involving a partnership between the BBC, the Prison Radio Association, the Prison Service, Community Service Volunteers and local education establishments, is eventually to achieve the installation of a radio station in every prison in the country.

oh so conflicted

Since Klansmen kidnapped and killed civil rights workers James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner near here in 1964, this town of more than 7,300 has struggled to establish an identity beyond those slayings, depicted in the fictional film, Mississippi Burning.

The community took a step forward on June 21, 2005 — the 41st anniversary of the killings. That's when a local jury convicted sawmill operator Edgar Ray Killen of orchestrating the slayings, and a judge sentenced him to 60 years in prison.

Now that judge is considering a request to free Killen from prison until his appeal is decided — an action defense lawyers predict would allow the 81-year-old part-time Baptist preacher to die at home instead of behind bars.

USATODAY.com - 1964 killings again haunt Miss. town

well... not really. although i harbor no sympathy for the man, what the fuck is he gonna do? kill again? and 81 yr old baptist preacher? clearly the only reason to imprison him is revenge and i don't think revenge does anything for anyone. maybe a forced apology or something, restorative justice. show him that people can be better than him. way fucking better.

k. you know why i love history so much? because it's proof we're idiots. no matter how many times we give ourselves a collective concussion, we continue to bang our collective heads against the same proverbial brick walls. take, for example, the health and fitness industry. no matter how many fad diets and exercise gizmos that are proven to be unhealthy, sometimes dangerous and flat out just don't work, when that next one comes along we're all over it like a fat kid on a smartie. it's hilarious and frightening. i mean, we really are morons.

KRT Wire | 07/12/2006 | Use of inmates for medical studies gets a new look

in a letter to mike, i wrote:

i just read something that has made me fucking furious.

7-13-06 - COLUMBUS LEDGER-ENQUIRER - GA - By By Dawn Fallik of The Philadelphia Inquirer

Thirty years ago, the federal government severely limited medical experimentation on prisoners after the discovery that pharmaceutical companies and medical researchers were using Philadelphia inmates as medical guinea pigs.

Now, an independent panel has suggested easing those bonds. But with the lingering specter of Nazi experiments and the local Holmesburg prison scandal, some say the door should remain shut.

what the fuck? no NO seriously WHAT THE FUCK is wrong with people? that right there is some of the sickest shit i've ever heard. sickest. shit. ever. there's a trillion little things running around in my head now i can't even fucking make sense of it. what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck. seriously that's making me so mad. i mean, they obviously think inmates are disposable, which means they think YOU are disposable. and fuck i knew this already but to purposely and knowingly put an inmate in danger of losing their lives or their health in the name of the giant pharmaceutical companies that are doing their fucking best ALREADY to ruin the lives of everyone on the planet except their own shareholders? i'm not surprised, not surprised, just pissed off that pisses me off holy shit does that piss me off. that is what they think of you. that breaks my fucking heart. that hurts so bad.

borderline boardwalk walk

i was walking around steveston earlier cause there are lots of people and people make me think stuff and thinking stuff makes me have shit to write that isn't boring. except that maybe it is boring. i dunno. i don't really see all things clearly. what i find interesting could be a total yawn to most people. i dunno. the world is often confusing to me.

with that said, or rather, spewed like a symptom of tourettes, i'll tell you what i saw when i was walking around steveston.

there's this long wooden boardwalk (redundant? shhhhhhtttttttup) that goes along the bank of the river from my folks house to the beach in steveston. it has all these heritage sites along the way, all the original buildings from the first japanese settlers to the area. the gardens some of them started and centuries of junk and debris lodged in the mud of the banks. there's always a thousand people walking, riding bikes, rollerblading up and down it. they go out there to this very public place, in their spandex with their fanny packs and their visors and sunglasses and water bottles strapped to their backs and they power walk. there's so much fist pumping going on out there with the occasional grunt gasp and sip that one can almost see a porn movie plot taking shape. but anyways.

i love going past the hill. the one hill in richmond. it's summit, being as richmond is already below sea level, is probably at about 2ft. there is always some group of women, with a line-up of strollers at the foot of this gargantuan peak. babies sleeping, crying and pointing at mom, laughing cause she's such a fucking idiot cause her and all her matching friends in new balance cross trainers are walking up the hill and then walking down, in a giant oval, single file. there's always about a dozen of them, up and down and up and down. some of them like to switch it up a little and do more of a squat-walk descent, which i suppose strengthens those soccer mom thighs and makes them look semi-malformed at the same time. funny thing is, this mommy militia keeps getting fatter and fatter, cause they probably go home and bury the hurt of such a static, unchallenging life in whipped cream and ho-hos, soak the pain in red wine and beer and martinis when the girls are over so as not to tarnish their reps as fashionable young mommies. and then they're all out there again the next morning. line up the babies, matching shirts, shoes and visors, fist pump fucking galore and up and down and up and down, OFF DAMN FAT, OFF! it's hilarious and even human beings in such unnecessary pain are beautiful to me and i love to see them struggle and struggle with something so trivial in a way. it irritates me too and i want to run over there and just say, look, stop eating the junk food, perhaps try running and stop drinking every night, but women are cruel to other women and they'd probably lynch me and throw me down the massive little hill, where i would lie in a ball and pout a little.

there was a bit of a strange moment when i was near some gardens. in them was a man doing tai chi which is pretty normal for around here, and as i approached him these two women fist-pump-power-walked by me speaking spanish, and i'm surrounded by steveston's japanese heritage. it's crazy cool when shit like that happens. it makes me feel like i'm traveling, like a tourist. and it happens a lot cause white folk in these parts are a minority. shit the elementary school my brother went to was french immersion and called école élémentaire tomekichi homma. and that's just down the street. it's sad though, the reason i love richmond is all too often the reason most caucasians leave. oddly, in this city, that makes the property value rise - all the crackas leavin' town.

so i sat up at the top of the stairway to nowhere at the middle mark of the boardwalk and sipped ginger ale and chewed juicy fruit and watched a woman on a bench below sit there in a striped shirt and scowl. i smiled at everyone walking by because i love how just turning the corners of your mouth up a little will make people mirror you. and i sat there and thought about mike and how much i miss mike and how incredibly fucking lucky i am to just know mike and i started to beam and i couldn't stop and everyone who looked at me started beaming and it was a pretty fuckin' smiley place earlier today there on the boardwalk near the stairway to nowhere, it was odd. except that woman on the bench scowling. i couldn't get her to look at me, so i couldn't get her to smile. it started to get really irritating and i thought about getting really mad, but then i decided instead to just start laughing really loud, and i kept doing it and doing it and laughing and laughing and you know what? she finally cracked a smile and i saw her upper body jiggle a little so i knew she'd let out at least a slight giggle. i dunno why, but i was the happiness pusher.

i started walking home and i was making a mental list of all the things i'd thought about so i could write them in this blog post and i was saying out loud, "tai chi, spanish women, mommies on the hill, striped shirt" over and over with my fingers out for counting purposes, and my shoes were hurting my feet so i was limping a little and my dad comes around the corner walking kramer and looks at me like i'd just suffered some brain trauma and was now slightly retarded. so i stopped my list-making and limping and looked at him and said i was getting blisters from my shoes, said hi to kramer and busted ass home so i could write all this shit down.

i love how i treat the most mundane crap like a breaking newsworthy story. don't you just love me? yeah.

BBC NEWS | Americas | US in $80m 'Cuba democracy' plan

alright americans. for those of you who are so frequently in shock to find out that most of the world despises your country here's a fucking lesson.

US President George W Bush has approved an $80m (£43m) fund which he says will go towards boosting democracy in Cuba.

In a statement, President Bush said he had approved a "compact" with the Cuban people which outlined how the US would support them "as they transition from the repressive control of the Castro regime to freedom and a genuine democracy".

why why why do you have to dictate how every other fucking country in the world ought to be run? don't you fucking understand that it's not your world, it's ours? don't you fucking get it that the united states government has no governing rights over ANY OTHER COUNTRY? let people fucking be. you and all the great european nations had their civil wars, and all ironed out your goddamned kinks yourselves. let developing countries do just that, develop.

seriously, it's like a fucking overbearing father who wants his kid so badly to be a doctor that the kid ends up despising him. is it worth it? to have a bubbling over majority of non-american residents of earth simply fucking loathe you because you have this inexplicable and unquenchable need to spread "democracy" to every country in the world at great fucking cost to those countries? is it worth it to feel unwelcome no matter where you travel, to have to pretend you're canadian just to get decent service in a cafe in paris? is it worth it?

LEAVE US ALL THE FUCK ALONE. WE ARE NOT AMERICAN. LET US BE NOT AMERICAN. let us have our open drug policies and alternative ideologies and same-sex marriage and lesser understood religions. just let us be and maybe the world wouldn't be so overwhelmingly hateful towards your country and it's policies. just let us fucking be.

costcordial

i just got back from costco. what a hell hole. there's this frantic madness to collect the most of everything and people are bouncing their carts of other people and frowning and checking prices in the store against prices they've written down from safeway and calculating weight and volume while shushing their children because they've lost count. and then you get these massive line-ups at the tables where they're serving free tiny bites of burritos and sweet and sour chicken and other products made up of pure lard and msg. and it smells so bad and the queue for the damned check out is long and painful and you stand there and watch the free people on the other side shoveling tube steaks and fake cheese slimed nachos into their mouths and grunting and groaning at the little tiny concession that serves pop and certain greasy death and passes it off for food.

costco is gross and i despise it.

then i get dragged over to zellers which is like walmart. it's just this big open room and some truck just drives up and dumps shit in the middle and you sift through it to find something you like for next to nothing. it's a mess and they're notorious for having the longest checkouts cause they hire people who's minds are made of foam. my mom picks up a couple things and we're at the checkout and something needs a price check so the woman puts our sale on hold and helps the next woman and something she has needs a price check. she gets on the phone with the dep't and i swear this woman's mystery priced item couldn't be any more than 50 cents and the cashier is going to get paid for her time, more than what the damned woman is going to pay for the item in question. i say that to my mom really loud and start going of on cost-efficiency and we're standing there for something like 20 mins and finally, finally all the price checks come through and we're permitted to go home.

nightmares. i have a pounding headache now, that dusty messy retail atmosphere, it's nasty.

what if one day i might learn a thing or two from regis and fucking kelly ripa? what's this fucking go-go dancer bullshit they have going on here? the very first time i have ever taken in the bizarre spectacle that is regis and kelly live or whatever it's called, they have some shadowed go-go dancer who's like 400 lbs. yes, i realize the camera adds ten and the shadow perhaps even more but what the fucking fuck is this? people are waking up to this? people actually peel themselves off their bed sheets, pour a cup of folgers and sip it to gargantuan go-go dancers while the ageless REEGE and some barbie doll bitch ham it up? and by ham it up i mean they spew, like they have tourettes, every last fucking word that comes from their pre-programmed minds. she smiles so huge it can only be maintained by two caterpillar work cranes holding up the corners and i swear she has nerve damage because her fucking hand hits regis more than snoop hits the bong and reg just sits there smiling his fucking muppet smile like some creepy old animatronic robot who has zero emotion or ability to get annoyed because he ACTUALLY SURVIVED THE KATHY-LEE ERA. see, if anyone told me i was obligated under contract to spend an hour a day with kathy-lee, i'd hail down the reaper and ask for my bill cause i'm fucking done.

my mom and dad watch the show and i haven't seen it since kathy-lee left and i'm not sure if i'll recover really. it's so horrible. you know when people say "it's like a bad car accident, it's so horrible but you have to watch"? well, a) those people are twisted and fucked up and b) regis and ripa are too horrible to watch. i just, i am saddened and horrified by their existence separately and together it's just an atrocity from which mankind will never recover. there is no recovery. we are infected by the live bug and doomed forever to hear the echo of that screeching weasel ripa as she slaps the silicon rubber thigh of a 200-yr-old robot man.

the sequel... ish... type thing

so i lost all my fervor in sending off into cyberspace the latest and greatest installment of the edmonton/calgary '06 trip blog chronicling thingamabobber-boo-ditty. so those of you who have been tearing your fingernails in anxiety, waiting so patiently, all minus one of you, you're just gonna have to accept it.

but i will say this:

when we were driving back from edmonton through jasper national park, it was wickedly beautiful and you see all these people parked on the side of the road everywhere taking pictures so they can remember what it's like when they're at home, surrounded by concrete and mauve and teal walls and gizmos and gadgets that beep and flash, fucking optimal chi through strategically placed upholstered particle board and bits of nature like ferns and bamboo and cluttered desktops with a framed picture of mrs. fuckface and the fuckface kids at jasper national park. it was perverted. i just found it perverted. that we have to build protected sanctuaries to which we travel on our 3 weeks off a year just to feel a little closer to nature, which is what's truly real. i was sickened almost. all these silver sedans with kona bikes strapped to their dent-resistant tops and women holding their leather gucci sandals while they tip-toe around in ice-cold glacier lakes. and fucking top dawg CEO takin' that picture that's gonna get knocked off that cluttered desk one night when he's "working late" with buffs-her-nails-and-answers-phones in the push-up bra.

then i realized i was one of those assholes. maybe i oughtta be a hermit in the mountains.

some of the strangest sites i've come across

ageless gene - this site is messed. a man, who refers to himself as gene speaks with a chat robot about the fact that he stopped aging 100 years ago, and the truly fucked up thing about it, is that if you actually read through the chat logs, it starts to sound a little less and less absurd.

one red paperclip - this blog chronicles a dudes trades all the way from one red paperclip to a freakin' house.

screech needs your help - or a kick in the head.

welcome to zombocom - you can do anything at zombocom.

do hoodies cause crime?

SocietyGuardian.co.uk | Society | Show more understanding of hoodies, urges Cameron

David Cameron will today attempt to rebrand the Conservatives as tough on the causes of crime, as he calls for politicians to show more understanding towards teenagers in hooded tops.

while i agree wholeheartedly with what mr. cameron was saying, i am absolutely floored at the fact that this "closer look at hoodies" ever had to take place in any country. they actually banned the fucking things in some malls to prevent shoplifters.

what

the

fuck?

i, personally, think granny panties should be banned because i have a theory that they cause republicans.

i loves mah gun, LOVES MAH GUN

Guardian Unlimited | Special reports | A shot in the dark

The National Rifle Association, one of America's most vociferous and effective lobby groups, is up in arms, as it were, over a UN initiative to curb the spread of small arms.

the national rifle association is nothing but fuckin' inbred redneck bloodthirsty hicks born with only 30% of the brain function of the rest of us. they are the lowest life form on earth, i'd rather fuck a dung fly than waste my breath talking to them.

the washington post, political scientists and the east carolina university are on fucking crack

Jon Stewart, Enemy of Democracy?

To test for a "Daily Effect," Baumgartner and Morris showed video clips of coverage of the 2004 presidential candidates to one group of college students and campaign coverage from "The CBS Evening News" to another group. Then they measured the students' attitudes toward politics, President Bush and the Democratic presidential nominee, Sen. John F. Kerry (Mass.).

The results showed that the participants rated both candidates more negatively after watching Stewart's program. Participants also expressed less trust in the electoral system and more cynical views of the news media, according to the researchers' article, in the latest issue of American Politics Research.

"Ultimately, negative perceptions of candidates could have participation implications by keeping more youth from the polls," they wrote.

less trust and more cynical views does not a lost vote make. man they really will just blame literally anything for the shortcomings of the human race. there's always some video game, some band or tv show, movie that holds the secret to preventing gang violence or murder, rape, not voting, drug use. whatever. they need to come up with some kind of vaccine to give us as children so as to prevent the inevitability of snagging our noggins on our long intestines as adults. cause goddamnit we got alotta people with their heads lodged right up their poop chute.
