i haven't posted in a while, too busy carrying around an 8 lb boy in my belly, who should be arriving any day now. but this post on boing boing made me mad, especially, ESPECIALLY the comments section riddled with questions like "how can we let this happen?" and "what do we do?" pretty much just hundreds of american idiots passing the buck once again.

see i don't hate americans. i have american friends that i love and cherish like you'd never believe. but these people take full responsibility for the state of their country. they are active in either politics, some kind of social cause, leaving their country behnd for better, more sane places like mexico, and in one friend's case, he's just busy being locked up. but the rest of you? for fuck's sake, honestly. get a clue. you sit around in your fucking underwear drinking stella artois thinking you're all that and a bag of chips while you play fucking grand theft auto all day. you poke at iphones, and watch lost and get caught up in the latest youtube dramas. you spend your money on convertible dvd/cd racks at ikea because they complete your bedroom set. election day comes and goes while you read the latest harry potter book and jerk off in line for the x-files. in the meantime, the more organized, willing and active conservative faction of your country votes in a monster while you were redeeming gift certificates at best buy.

newspapers all over your country report that 2.2 million people are incarcerated in the US. this is a higher rate by almost triple than any other developed country in the world. you are still occupying iraq in spite of literally everyone having a sour taste in their mouths about it. your government thinks life begins as a spermatazoa and ends when you commit a major felony. again, the only developed country in the world that this applies to. you have a significant number of school districts within the borders of your country comparing darwin's theory of evolution to some fucker on a throne in the sky building us out of legos in 7 days. you government can detain you or any visitor to your country for no apparent reason, for any length of time. they have access to your bank records, they listen to your phonecalls, they can search enything, including all your most precious orafaces, they may usurp your property for any reason, they can confiscate any gadget you own, they can wrongfully convict you and make your serve decades on death row without compensation at the realization they made a mistake.

honestly. what the fuck has to happen exactly before you all care? it is so easy to say the power is elusive, how do we do this, how do we do that, but the only people with the power are yourselves. the only ones. you think the government has all this power over you. YOU put them there. take responsibility. you're like a bunch of two years olds running around crying, it's not my fault, it's not my fault. fucking grow the fuck up, take responsibility and fucking do something. and i don't mean post comments on boingboing and then forget about it the next day.

this election day:

1. vote or you are to blame for the outcome.
2. if you do vote, find all your friends and family who are not planning on voting and get them to vote or you are to blame for the outcome.
3. vote for who you really want to run the country, don't vote for the lesser of two evils or you are to blame for the outcome.
4. educate yourself about your candidate's stances on issues that matter to you most. this is not difficult, just google "barack obama on the death penalty" or the like. vote based on who's ideas make the most sense to you, or you are to blame for the outcome.

democracy is a very, very simple idea, but it requires a responsible populace. unfortunately, the USA is the last country on earth responsible enough to handle it.
