best feel good movie of all time?

so the con and i were arguing over which movie was the best feel good movie of all time yesterday.

both of us, during our teen years, unbeknownst to each other, used to watch major league over and over and memorize the entire script (we quite often have conversations consisting of nothing but major league lines). my very strong opinion is that major league, the original, not the second or third, is the very best feel good movie of all time.

c'mon, bob euker yellin' , "the indians win it, the indians win it! oh my god the indians win it! i can't believe it!!"? you don't get any better feely-gooods than that, kids.

but yesterday michael dropped a bomb. he said he now considers rocky IV to be the best feel good movie of all time. i told him i hadn't seen it, which was met with a "WHAAAT?" and then he yelled out in the joint, "she hasn't seen rocky IV!!" and a chorus of career criminals gasped in unison.

he says, "so whatre you doing tonight?" and thinking i'd just gotten off easy, i tell him i have some work and shizz to take care of. "WRONG" he says, "let's try this again. what're you doing tonight?"

"i dunno, mike, what am i doing?"

"you're going to blockbuster and renting rocky IV. one more time, what're you doing tonight?"

"i'm going to blockbuster and renting rocky IV"

"atta girl"

knowing full well he's going to call today and the first thing he's going to say is, "what'd you do last night?", i went out and rented rocky IV and somewhere in there, someone asked, "hey, wanna get shitfaced?" and, since my new philosophy is fuck mondays, we got a 24.

so, i got slammed last night and watched rocky IV, which, btw, is nothing but musical interludes and some fuckin weird robot playing strange old music from antiquity.

but the end was awesome, i will give you that, the speech, the we-can-all-live-in-fucking-harmony-screw-the-iron-wall speech was the bomb shizzle.

but i still maintain, i will until the day i die, that major league is the best film of the feel-good variety, EVER. now, how to break it to mikey...

another coupla years of this and we're gonna hafta start feeding chow-chow real dog food, kids.
