y'know, of all the people i communicate with throughout my life, the people who are consistently the most optimistic are mike and the guys who write me from death row.

the people who have the most to worry about, the most stress and the most reason to complain, do the least whining.

as mikey once said, "once you've lost everything, you're free to gain anything"

there was one letter from dennis on death row @ san quentin. he was telling me about the "cooler", which is the hole essentially, but they blast the air conditioning all day every day and it becomes much colder than comfort would allow. he said he couldn't write a long letter cause his hands freeze up after a couple pages. then he told me "but i remain sound in knowing that life ain't over 'til it's over... I'm at full strength and powered up spiritually, mentally, and physically fit to keep pushing lifeward with peace, love and harmony."

if only we could all have the ability to, in the face of any stress, in the face of any bullshit, keep up an attitude like that.
