more prison time for guys already serving life?

A judge postponed the sentencing of four leaders of the Aryan Brotherhood prison gang Monday...

The four men were convicted of murder, conspiracy and racketeering in a
case aimed at dismantling the Aryan Brotherhood -- a white supremacist
organization accused of dealing drugs and spreading terror inside some
of the nation's most dangerous prisons.

how narrow-minded - to think that the ONLY alternative to more prison time is setting criminals free.

do you think that giving the leaders of the aryan brotherhood, most of whom are serving life in prison already, more years on the end of their sentence (which will be "served" well past their death) will stop them from committing the crimes they are committing in prison? heh. moron.

Yet all we hear in the media is calls for tougher sentences, like this:

Blair's Sham War On Drugs

I fear our society is falling apart for lack of understanding of the consequences of our actions. We imprison people for things that aught not be a crime (supplying an adult with their drug of choice), then we're shocked when drugs end up in prisons, leading to gangs and violence, then we're disgusted that the sewer system they were in didn't correct their behaviour and they're back on the street with better criminal connections than before.

We are, for lack of a better term being willfully blind to the facts at hand about the consequences. This is a crime, something that is hurting us all, and will affect us all much more if we aren't prepared to change.

I don't think a guy who is doing "life" in jail cares about getting 2 more "life" sentances. Its not like he can even out-live one.....why not try something else huh?
